Team Bios

Holly Walker

Holly Walker is a former competitor on the Freeskiing World Tour who has competed in Europe, Canada, and the U.S. She has traveled around the world to over 40 countries bringing her skis whenever she can. Holly has also climbed to ski numerous mountains including Mount Rainier, Denali, Wedge, Spearhead Traverse in a day and many more in such places as the Himalayas, the Andes and beyond. Holly has endured her share of injuries as most extreme athletes do, until she suffered a stroke in January of 2009 in Silverton, Colorado, which sent her life into unexpected chaos and took her out of the game for nearly a year. After completing an expedition on Denali, Alaska two years ago and nowworking as a ski patroller in Whistler this winter, Holly is now ready for a new challenge and an adventure overseas. She plans to share her adventure and stories of the Fedchenko around the world, not only about the remoteness of the Pamir Range and the importance of its glacier but also to continue showing others and fellow stroke victims that such a challenge is possible.

Emelie Stenberg

Emelie Stenberg, 30, is a skier at heart. She has skied extensively in the Canadian Rockies, Columbia Mountains and Coast Mountains of British Columbia as well as the European Alps, the mountains of Scandinavia and the Caucasus in Russia. She was born and raised in Sweden and came to Canada in 2004 to experience BC powder skiing, and she was immediately hooked and became  immersed with the Canadian mountain culture. After graduating from Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops with an Adventure Guide Diploma, and a Bachelor of Tourism Management she moved to Revelstoke, BC to pursue a career as a ski guide.  

Emelie has always been inspired to explore the mountains of Central Asia and has found the ideal place for her next adventure; Fedchenko Glacier in the Pamirs. She hopes to also share her Tajikistan adventure with everyone and to inspire others to explore these remote and mysterious parts of the world. 

Selena Raven Cordeau

Selena describes herself as a "nomad of the wild," roaming rivers, mountains and glaciers. Based in the massifs between British Columbia and the Swiss Alps for the ski season and Patagonia and Scandinavia for summers of climbing,  Selena somehow seems to find herself back in the Yukon every year to guide expeditions. 

A vehement adventurer with a technical mind, Selena is constantly searching for ways of combining her love of the mountains with her glaciology research. She has completed numerous multi-day traverses in BC, Yukon and Morocco as well as summiting peaks in the Rockies, European Alps and Mexico.

Zebulon Blais

Zeb’s life revolves around mountains, which  he first pursued as a ski patroller at Squaw Valley in California, immersing himself in avalanche control, first aid and skiing steep lines.  He now works as a mountain guide, ski guide and avalanche course leader in mountains around the world.  When not guiding, his free time is spent exploring mountains from Alaska to Argentina which has taken him to 15 countries in five continents. 

Zeb’s travel experience in developing countries around the world has opened his eyes to how lucky he is to have opportunities to climb and ski in distant ranges.  He is devising ways to give back to these communities and expand awareness and understanding of foreign cultures back home.

Vince Shuley

Vince Shuley lives to document the adventure. Based in Whistler, BC where he works as a freelance writer, columnist and photographer, Vince has an established track record of working with local, regional and national print media on the subject of backcountry adventure. A transplanted Australian, Vince now enjoys his winters as a travelling photojournalist, meeting people of the mountains and telling their stories.
Vince has summited peaks throughout BC's Coast Range and in the Chilean Andes, all while carrying a heavy pack full of camera equipment. He intends to reveal the beauty of the Fedchenko to the world through his words and photos.
